Colombia Visa Information

Tourist Entry Routes & Visa Rules for Visiting Colombia

Colombia, famous for its vibrant culture, coffee regions, and Caribbean and Andean landscapes, offers flexible entry options for tourists. Many nationalities can enter visa-free for short visits, typically up to 90 days, making tourism travel simple for eligible travelers.

Those who require authorization can apply for the Visitor (V) Tourist Visa, which allows short stays for leisure, sightseeing, and family visits. Applicants usually need a valid passport, proof of accommodation, financial means, and a return or onward ticket. The process is handled online through Colombia’s official visa portal.

Tourists wishing to stay longer can often extend their stay up to a maximum of 180 days per year through migration authorities. For purposes beyond tourism—such as work, study, or long-term residence—visitors must apply for the appropriate M (Migrant) or R (Resident) visa categories.

Visitors are usually allowed to stay up to 90 days, which can be extended for another 90 days inside Colombia.

You generally need: A valid passport Return or onward ticket Proof of sufficient funds Check-Mig form (submitted online before arrival/departure)

All travelers must complete the Check-Mig form online between 24 hours and 1 hour before their flight.
