Kuwait Visa Information

Tourist Entry Rules & Visa Options for Visiting Kuwait

Kuwait, known for its modern skyline, cultural landmarks, and Gulf hospitality, has clear entry requirements for tourists. Many nationalities can apply for the Kuwait eVisa online, which simplifies travel planning and allows short stays for leisure and family visits.

The Tourist eVisa usually permits a stay of up to 90 days, provided travelers hold a valid passport, confirmed accommodation, and a return or onward ticket. Some visitors may still be required to obtain a visa in advance through a Kuwaiti embassy, depending on their nationality and travel history.

For travelers planning longer stays or visits beyond tourism—such as work, study, or residency—Kuwait offers specific long-term visas and residence permits. Tourist visas are generally not extendable, so visitors should ensure they apply for the correct category before traveling.

It depends on your nationality. Some travellers may need to obtain a visa before travelling to Kuwait. Kuwait offers an e-Visa platform for tourist, family, business, and official-visit visas. Also, as of August 2025, foreign residents living in any member state of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) — including those from non-GCC nationalities but holding valid GCC residency permits — are now eligible for a tourist visa on arrival when entering Kuwait.

A tourist visa (or visa-on-arrival for eligible travellers) allows a stay of up to 90 days per visit.

Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of entry into Kuwait. At the time of entry (especially for visa-on-arrival or even with e-Visa), travellers may be required to show return or onward flight tickets, proof of accommodation (hotel booking or address), and proof of sufficient funds for stay.
