Tourist Entry Pathways & Short-Stay Visas for the Philippines

The Philippines welcomes travelers with a flexible visa policy that makes short-term tourism easy. Many nationalities are permitted visa-free entry, generally for 14, 21, or 30 days, depending on the passport, provided visitors hold a return or onward ticket.

For travelers who are not visa-exempt, the Tourist Visa can be obtained from a Philippine embassy or consulate, commonly granting an initial 59-day stay. Applicants usually need a valid passport, itinerary details, proof of funds, and travel bookings.

Visitors who wish to stay longer can extend their stay through the Bureau of Immigration, with options ranging from short extensions to multi-month stays. Additional visa categories exist for those visiting for business, study, or family purposes.

Absolutely. Visa-free visitors and 9A visa holders can extend their stay at the Bureau of Immigration in increments (usually 29, 30, or 59 days). Long-stay extensions are possible for up to 36 months for most nationalities.

Visitors must hold a passport valid for at least 6 months, a return or onward ticket, proof of funds, and may be asked for accommodation details. Some nationalities may need to complete an eTravel online arrival form.
